polypropylene sheet board is widely used in packaging, construction and automobile parts because of its excellent heat resistance, chemical resistance, insulation, low water absorption and excellent processing performance. Today we'll take a closer look at the processing process of polypropylene sheets.
1.Raw material preparation
To make the plate stronger and more stable, it is stretched lengthwise at the right temperature and tension. Thermosetting makes the plate's molecular structure even more organized, which makes it stronger and more stable.
2.Melt Extrusion
The raw materials go into the extruder and melt and mix at high temperature and pressure. The thickness and surface quality of the plate can be controlled by adjusting the temperature, pressure and speed of the extruder. In this process, Temperature control is very important, too high melt temperature will lead to PP material degradation, too low temperature will lead to poor material flow, affecting product quality. For example, in some production processes, the temperature of the extruder barrel is set at between 225 and260°C and the temperature of the die is around 230 to250°C. (Reference:
3.Rolling (used in some processes)
The extruded sheet is further molded and stretched through a set of heated rollers. The thickness and uniformity of the plate are controlled by adjusting the temperature and pressure of the roller. During the rolling process, the plate is in full contact with the roller surface, which helps to eliminate air bubbles and improve surface quality. The rolling method is simple, easy for workers to learn and simple for equipment maintenance. However, due to the strong separation force of roller, roller and rack require higher strength. 4.Cooling and mapping
After rolling, the plate enters the cooling device to cool quickly, stabilize the plate and reduce internal stress. The wire drawing device pulls the sheet out of the cooling device and maintains the wire feeding smooth and uniform. Controlling cooling speed and tensile tension is the key to ensure the performance and stability of the plate. Water cooling and air cooling are two common ways to cool things down. The plate's individual needs will determine how long and how chilly it has to be.
5. Stretching and Heat Setting (for some processes)
To make the plate stronger and more stable, it is stretched lengthwise at the right temperature and tension. Thermosetting makes the plate's molecular structure even more organized, which makes it stronger and more stable. The tensile and thermal solidification processes have important effects on the physical properties and dimensional stability of sheet metal. For example, the process is used for polypropylene sheets that require high strength and good dimensional stability.
6. Cutting and rewinding
The stretched sheet are cut horizontally and vertically according to product specifications to obtain a specific size of plate. The coiling device rolls the cut sheet into a reel for subsequent processing and use. Control cutting precision and winding tension, ensure the flatness and winding quality of the plate. Cutting methods include mechanical and laser cutting cutting according to specific needs. In addition to these standard processes, there are special polypropylene sheet manufacturing methods, such as heat resistant transparent polypropylene for microwave food packaging. The preparation of the sheet consists of mixing homopolymer polypropylene and copolymer polypropylene in certain proportions to obtain composite powder, forming masterbatches, mixing the pre-treated resin matrix with the masterbatches, forming amorphous sheet through melt layering, processing on a multiroller press, periodic cooling, and application of corona treatment and barrier coating to the sheet surface. Through the synergy of innovative nucleating agents and gradient processing technology, the heat resistance and mechanical strength of the polypropylene sheet are greatly improved, while maintaining high transparency and effectively inhibiting processing degradation. Different processing methods and parameter settings directly affect the performance and quality of polypropylene sheets. Therefore, manufacturers need to select suitable processing methods and parameters according to specific product requirements and application scenarios to produce polypropylene sheets that meet the requirements.
